It's all over now...he's walking.

Image
This post is delayed a couple of days....as 24 hours after Rhett started taking unassisted steps, he was full on walking by Saturday.  No joke.  This boy isn't kidding around, he has stuff to see and do and he frankly, doesn't need our help. Here is a short video of his walking skills, albeit they are a little 'drunken sailor' at the moment, but they get better by the hour!! Grandma Brown & cousin Maddy were able to witness Rhett's walking skills develop while visiting this weekend.  It was a great visit.  We all enjoyed going to Danica's first birthday party on Saturday, she had so much party fun, she passed out in the middle of opening her gifts! Rhett went ahead and helped her out opening a few more and testing out her new chair. Here she is asleep in her new recliner. Dani asleep in her recliner Rhett has also decided that it's appropriate to put his toys IN the Christmas tree now, as they really should be decorations too right?  Gra...

Santa Visit

Image
It was a big day, visiting Santa and all...but truly, the hit was the candy cane after.  You would have thought I gave him the tastiest treat on the planet!  "Real" food is really starting to come into full play now!  A few funny pics to commemorate the moment.  Rhett could have cared less about the very odd looking (really!) Santa, and Dani, well she wanted NO PART of any of it.  Ok, take the picture so I can get off this guys lap.  MOM!!!! Who are you?  You look weird. Mmmmm, it's all about this candy cane. That's a BIG NO THANK YOU from Dani.  Freaked out! Mmmm, more candy! Santa Aftermath...wiped out!

Official 9 month Stats

It was doctor day.  Rhett is officially doing well, and on his way to being a very tall boy.  That's got to be those Heiman genes in him (my Mom's side of the family, all my aunts & uncles are 6ft+).  He had to get a shot today, and he was very cranky about that tonight, my poor boy! Weight:  20lbs, 12oz  (55th Percentile) Height:  29"  (85th Percentile) Rhett ate mashed potatoes with gravy and a tiny bit of meatloaf last night.  He was in HEAVEN!  Think he may be a meat & potato kind of guy, like his Daddy. A couple of recent pics below from Nic & Jayde's wedding.  Rhett with Nic Rhett with Jayde & Danica

Weddings & Dress Up!

Image
The Pigati wedding party Wow, what a combined post!  A wedding and Halloween, all covered within a week.  It's been a crazy October, and by the way, what has happened to 2010?? Family photo! Last weekend, Sunday, October 24th, our nephew Nicolas, married his high school sweetheart, Jayde.  This is Danica's mommy & daddy, so it was an extra happy occasion for the whole family.  What a beautiful day it turned out to be, and such a beautiful bride, ceremony (short & sweet!) and of course, the babies were both in the wedding in all their cuteness & baby glory.... Handsome boy. Dani & Rhett in thier wedding wagon Mommy & Rhett Seems like just yesterday Nic was learning how to drive, getting his first job and working hard at being a goofy little boy.  He has sure grown up into a responsible, genuinely good hearted young man.  It's really a startling look at how fast Rhett's childhood will fly by.  I'm so happy...

Mama....Mom

Image
I've been waiting to blog about this moment!!  It has finally, well I think, at least I'm pretty sure.... arrived!  His first 'official' word...."Mama...Mom"!  He has been mumbling this for quite some time.  Over the past 2 weeks, I would think that I for sure heard it in the morning, or at times when he was cranky or fussy.  But it wasn't really clear, and more of a distress cry.  So, I didn't think it was clear enough to 'claim'...but now, as of the last two days, it's clear as day and it's obvious...and he won't stop saying it!  Of course, the word itself transforms into loads of hugs and kisses and a lot of attention from Mom, so of course he will keep saying it!  We caught some video last night.  Again, keep in mind that it's all he wants to say or mutter.  He can also say, or express, the 'mmmmm' sound when he's eating his dinner.  He has been doing that for some time.  I do think h...

6 month pictures

Image
Well, he's technically already 7 months old, but we wanted to share some 6 month pictures with everyone.  These were taken August 14th, and it was lots of fun.  Just since these pictures have been taken, Rhett is nearly crawling (he can crawl a few paces, then he has to lay down and rest).  Wondering how long it will be before he just figures out how to pull himself up on the sofa and start crawling.  Heck with it! We also were able to have a photography session with Danica, who is our nephew Nic & Jayde's little girl.  She is just 7 weeks older than Rhett, they are buddies.

Father's Day Weekend, remembering and celebrating

Image
Father's day weekend was a mix of wonderful, some sadness, but all in all, fun. We went to Show Low, Arizona for the weekend to see John's family and spread Ray's ashes. John's Dad, Ray, passed away in April, and we miss him every single day. Grandpa Brown will be remembered and talked about to his grandson Rhett, who is Ray's namesake as well. We will always have Show Low to visit and reflect on Ray, as he loved that place up north, his little Heaven on Earth, which he looks upon, I believe, from Heaven now.  As we were saying a few words, after Barb had spread his ashes at Fools Hollow Lake, I thought it very appropriate and telling when a Momma and all of her baby ducks swam by all of us on the dock.  A sign that life is ever revolving, never stopping, and I think Dad will be with all of us, protecting his grandson and watching over us every step of the way. All the cousins, Nic , Rhett, Tatianna , Natasha, Maddie, D ani & Dominic  Rhonda, Mona & Jo...

4 months and swim time!

Image
Yesterday our boy was a whopping 4 months old!  Today was a doctor visit, the first time to eat some real food and two more shots (boo!).  Another first shall be revealed at the end of this post, stay tuned... Stats: Height:  26" - 90th Percentile Weight: 15lbs, 4 oz - 55th Percentile Head: 16 1/4" - 25th Percentile Milestones:   Rhett is smiling a ton, and is really laughing.  He can full belly laugh and get himself into a giggle he just can't stop!  His Daddy can really make him laugh and Mommy likes to tickle and kiss him to make him laugh.  His laugh is just infectious, and you fall in love with him over and over.  Speaking of 'over' - he's about ready to ROLL over.  He's trying so very hard!  Daddy says he looks like a turtle on his back.  He gets close, but just can't get over his arm to get on his tummy yet.  Soon enough I'm sure.  Another thing he loves is what we call 'flying baby', where we hold him overhe...

Mom's Day, Cousin Dani, Life as a 3 month old....

Image
My beautiful little boy...he just makes my heart melt over and over.... Mother's Day Breakfast out... My first Mother's Day was awesome.  I think it would have been incredible no matter what, just because I have the amazing privilage of being a "Mom" now.  Our day was pretty low key, breakfast out and shopping errands with Daddy.  Came home and Rhett gave me a great mother's day 'blow out' present (yep, you know what I'm talking about).  It was a full fledged, just put me in the sink, kinda poo.  Oh, the smelly joys of motherhood.  10 years ago, I would have told you NO WAY would I ever be dealing with that....well, I was wrong.  Thank goodness. How can you resist handsome?  Rhett has been spending a day or two a week with his 2nd cousin (our nephews little one), Danica.  Dani's Auntie Jenae (Nae), watches both little ones at our house, and she is a natural with them both.  They certainly love her and are learning how to love one ...
