Lots of happenings...updates, and nostalgia

You could say I've been slacking on blogging...but it's not like I have not been busy!!  Getting ready for a new baby is work I tell ya!  The good news is, nesting is right up my alley.  So many updates below in one post: Doctor Stats & Update:   Baby B (yes, still no name people, I'm deciding when I meet him, leave me alone people) is doing well, growing much bigger.  He is up to a full 7lbs now according to his ultrasound Monday.  I've only gained 12 total pounds overall, so it's ALL BABY!  Doctor at one point told me she would induce at 39 weeks or even 38, which would be Feb.6th, but Monday she said she couldn't guarantee this since the hospital we choose is so popular (really?!).  With babies gaining 1/2 pound approximately per week, he could be an 8.5lb kid.  Ugh.  Trust me, he feels like 10 now!!  I'm all about getting this show on the road now.  So, if you have any ideas, tips or tricks, please e-mail me....a...

Time fly's....

Time fly's.....when you're having fun!  WOW, what happened?  It's already December 11th, only 14 days until Christmas?!  I am just ordering my Christmas cards, yikes!  Better get busy, that's for sure! We have been home almost a week now from our wonderful trip up north to Colorado to spend Thanksgiving with my family.  It was a great trip.  I love spending time with my family during the winter months, since it's the only time they are not working at the trading post day in and day out.  This year, we were able to make a big Thanksgiving dinner together, enjoyed some shopping with my mom, and just generally hung out and relaxed, and avoided the below zero morning temps by the fire....well, that was until December 3rd.  Dec 3-5, we helped my parents host the World Coyote Calling Championships.  John had a good friend come up, and they competed in the competition as well.  It was their first year competing, so let's say they le...

A last little get-a-way

Last minute trip!  Sure those days are numbered.... John and I decided to head up to Laughlin this last weekend.  Not just because we decided Laughlin was an ultimate destination, rather a really good friend of mine from college days in Grand Junction was in town.  I worked with Marilyn at Mesa State, and that in turn became a life long friendship.  Just one of those people that pass through your life, wherein you can pick up the phone 10 years later and it's like you never left off.   It was a great visit with them, not to mention John and I had a fun time also.  Laughlin was full of great people watching and turns out, zoo activity!  We saw a ton of racoons, a skunk, an owl, coyotes and of course the fish along the river.  It was crazy funny....and most importantly we spent some time together laughing.  The next several weekend are going to be full of activities, holidays and getting ready for this baby boy.  Only 94 days to go...

Baby B Update

Image
It was Doctor day today....and all seems to be going really well.  Our baby boy is growing bigger and he is healthy, and seemingly happy in there for now!  Mommy LOST a pound this month if you can believe that, and the doctor told me that since I was pretty tall, and started out not a small gal, I'm not showing like some might.  Seriously, if you didn't know me, you'd probably think I just have put on a few pounds, I just look fatter.  (Look at below post picture with Jayde...Jayde is only 6 weeks further along than me, and she's all cutie pie baby preggo!).   Definately not the 'cute' pregnant mommy here...more like the 'hmmm, she needs to stop eating' mommy!  Oh well, I don't really care, as long as he is healthy.  They took a cute picture of his face.  Since he is getting bigger, it's harder to get the good pics anymore.  Tighter quarters I guess.  I am not going to spend the extra few hundred bucks for a 3D ultrasound...

Babies & Quilts

Image
A busy family weekend for us...it was all about family and the new baby girl Danica (our great-neice), who is going to arrive this December.  The shower was Saturday, put on by the Grandma's & friends.  Here are some pics of the Mommy & Daddy (Jayde & Nic, our nephew).  I made Danica a quilt, and have not posted or blogged about it so it would be a surprise.  Here are some pics of that also...it's a time consuming project of love for sure!!  Now onto making my son his quilt next.... I'm only 6 weeks behind Jayde, so our little boy will grow up with Danica.  Christmas at our place in a couple years should be interesting, to say the least! John, his Dad, Ray (Great Grandpa) & sister, Rhonda (Nic's Mom) Nic & Jayde with Grandpa Ray & Grandma to be Rhonda

Youth....Memories

Image
So, in my ravaged state of what many call 'nesting' I have come across some GREAT, yet seemingly ancient pictures of my youth.  Top left, I was all of 20 years old and thought I knew it all!!  While the pictures make me sad that I have tragically lost the appearance of my youth, I am alternatively grateful for the wisdom and experiences the last twenty years have brought me.  I really do feel like I will be a better mother, that I have been able to enjoy a loving relationship with my husband, and that I really am 'wiser' to the ways of the world.  Damn, if I would have only listened to my parents when I was a kid right :)  I'm sure I'll be preaching THAT to my own son in the years to come.  The bottom left picture, I was all of 17, with my "Aunt" Kelli, who is only a few years older than I.  She should have been my sister!  Did we ever have some FUN times during summers and summer-time Mexico trips.  Experiences I will never forget!...

Thanks to Misty http://mistyandmatt.blogspot.com/  for this Kreativ Blogger award. I worked with Misty at The Make-A-Wish Foundation in Arizona here for a couple years, before she moved back to Nashville.  She was a great co-worker, and has since turned into an even better, long-lasting friend.  She has since moved back to Arizona, and those of us here are happy to have she and her beautiful family back for awhile.  Her blog is truly what inspired me to try blogging!  So here is what I am supposed to do: 1.
