A last little get-a-way

Image
Last minute trip!  Sure those days are numbered.... John and I decided to head up to Laughlin this last weekend.  Not just because we decided Laughlin was an ultimate destination, rather a really good friend of mine from college days in Grand Junction was in town.  I worked with Marilyn at Mesa State, and that in turn became a life long friendship.  Just one of those people that pass through your life, wherein you can pick up the phone 10 years later and it's like you never left off.   It was a great visit with them, not to mention John and I had a fun time also.  Laughlin was full of great people watching and turns out, zoo activity!  We saw a ton of racoons, a skunk, an owl, coyotes and of course the fish along the river.  It was crazy funny....and most importantly we spent some time together laughing.  The next several weekend are going to be full of activities, holidays and getting ready for this baby boy.  Only 94 days to go...

Baby B Update

Image
It was Doctor day today....and all seems to be going really well.  Our baby boy is growing bigger and he is healthy, and seemingly happy in there for now!  Mommy LOST a pound this month if you can believe that, and the doctor told me that since I was pretty tall, and started out not a small gal, I'm not showing like some might.  Seriously, if you didn't know me, you'd probably think I just have put on a few pounds, I just look fatter.  (Look at below post picture with Jayde...Jayde is only 6 weeks further along than me, and she's all cutie pie baby preggo!).   Definately not the 'cute' pregnant mommy here...more like the 'hmmm, she needs to stop eating' mommy!  Oh well, I don't really care, as long as he is healthy.  They took a cute picture of his face.  Since he is getting bigger, it's harder to get the good pics anymore.  Tighter quarters I guess.  I am not going to spend the extra few hundred bucks for a 3D ultrasound...

Babies & Quilts

Image
A busy family weekend for us...it was all about family and the new baby girl Danica (our great-neice), who is going to arrive this December.  The shower was Saturday, put on by the Grandma's & friends.  Here are some pics of the Mommy & Daddy (Jayde & Nic, our nephew).  I made Danica a quilt, and have not posted or blogged about it so it would be a surprise.  Here are some pics of that also...it's a time consuming project of love for sure!!  Now onto making my son his quilt next.... I'm only 6 weeks behind Jayde, so our little boy will grow up with Danica.  Christmas at our place in a couple years should be interesting, to say the least! John, his Dad, Ray (Great Grandpa) & sister, Rhonda (Nic's Mom) Nic & Jayde with Grandpa Ray & Grandma to be Rhonda

Youth....Memories

Image
So, in my ravaged state of what many call 'nesting' I have come across some GREAT, yet seemingly ancient pictures of my youth.  Top left, I was all of 20 years old and thought I knew it all!!  While the pictures make me sad that I have tragically lost the appearance of my youth, I am alternatively grateful for the wisdom and experiences the last twenty years have brought me.  I really do feel like I will be a better mother, that I have been able to enjoy a loving relationship with my husband, and that I really am 'wiser' to the ways of the world.  Damn, if I would have only listened to my parents when I was a kid right :)  I'm sure I'll be preaching THAT to my own son in the years to come.  The bottom left picture, I was all of 17, with my "Aunt" Kelli, who is only a few years older than I.  She should have been my sister!  Did we ever have some FUN times during summers and summer-time Mexico trips.  Experiences I will never forget!...

Kreativ Blogger

Thanks to Misty http://mistyandmatt.blogspot.com/  for this Kreativ Blogger award. I worked with Misty at The Make-A-Wish Foundation in Arizona here for a couple years, before she moved back to Nashville.  She was a great co-worker, and has since turned into an even better, long-lasting friend.  She has since moved back to Arizona, and those of us here are happy to have she and her beautiful family back for awhile.  Her blog is truly what inspired me to try blogging!  So here is what I am supposed to do: 1. Thank the person who nominated you for this award. 2. Copy the logo and place it on your blog. 3. Link the person who nominated you for this award. 4. Name 7 things about yourself that people may not know. 5. Nominate 7 Kreative Bloggers. 6. Post links to the 7 blogs you nominate. 7. Leave a comment on each of the blogs letting them know that they have been nominated! 7 Things people may not know about me: 1. I am going to be a M...

Proof is in the picture, it's a boy!

Apparently, this child is going to just start off shocking us all.  I think everyone, including Mom & Dad, thought 'he' was definately a 'she'!  "Baby B" stands for "BOY"!  Surprise...that is definately NOT a Va-JJ going on there between those two legs in the lower picture.  I think it's proof positive that we are awaiting the arrival of the next John R. Brown.  We still don't know what the "R" will stand for, but that will be his called name.  We already have more than one "John", so we'll have to start figuring that out soon. Everything looked great, he is healthy and normal.  Was moving all over, even flipped completely over during the long 45 min ultrasound.  He is measuring at 9oz right now, which is actually a little bit big (oh crap!). Well, since I'm not exactly the world's most 'prissy' girly girl, perhaps it is fate that we will have a little boy to add to our family.  He better be rou...

Posting about ?

OK, I have no pictures, no cool cute stuff to write about. I'm just pregnant. So, I will take this opportunity to expand upon the fact, for those who may not know me well enough....let me just state that I am NOT some earthy, happy, oh lucky me, I'm pregnant kind of gal. Yes, I feel incredibly blessed to be having a BABY, but seriously, it's 4 months into this and I already want my body back. Why is it the woman has to muddle through this 9 months of torturous, body changing, body functioning (I won't even go there), hungry, tired, did I say exhausted, can't sleep well, up at 6am daily, kind of existance? I think the man upstairs should have taken a real good look at this way back when. Seriously. Like, couldn't there be a 'baby store' out there somewhere...or maybe even a shared experience with the Dad? John helped me into this situation right? The last three days I think I've had 10 people ask me if I was sick. No, not sick, just pregnant...
