Growing too fast! 19 months old!

He's learning to ride a tricycle these days... A couple of weeks ago, I blogged about Rhett spending the week with Mommy.  It was an awesome week, and an entire week to spend 24/7 with him, really getting an idea of how much he grows and changes every single day.  During this week, I decided to start writing down all of the 'words' that Rhett was using on a regular basis.  Well, that quickly became writing down all of the word combinations, short sentences and actions that this 19 month old little BOY is well aware of, using to gain everything he wants out of his daily routine. We can start with the easy stuff: Mama (let us not forget, it was his first word!), also variations of Mom (that was weird to hear) and Mommy . Papa , along with variations of Daddy . I Love You - he has just started telling us he loves us.  It's usually more along the lines of love you Mama, love you Papa.   I'll take it any way, any how. Daddy's TRUCK !  The...

Alligator - "Roar" He may have a monkey on his shirt, but this kid loves Alligators!   It's a longer week than normal for Mommy.  This week, our wonderful sitter Mary Beth is taking a week long (well deserved) trip, and that means...MOMMY has Rhett all week long.  Now, don't get me wrong, I love love love my boy, and I love love love being a Mommy.  But, Mommy has a J - O - B too!  Yes, ladies and gents, Mommy has to work.  Being a Mommy full time to a 19mo old toddler is a full time job in and of itself.  So, what do you ask, do we do to tackle this feat?  We wear him OUT!  Rhett is completely at the age and point that his curiosity is peaked, all the time.  His language is out of bounds crazy developing, and he is just full (and I mean this, really, it's insane) of energy.  You literally have to wear him out in mind and body to get a good nap and a happy boy. The sweetest thing..

I enjoyed a wonderful birthday yesterday with lots of birthday wishes from friends and family!  My great hubby brought me flowers, took me out to dinner and bought me a new beautiful watch!  When John brought home flowers, there was a balloon in them.  Which, of course, he really bought for Rhett since balloons are his favorite thing in the world whenever he gets one.  So this video was prompted by his love of the balloon and the fact that he is learning to say and repeat EVERYTHING we do! Sweetest words, the best birthday wish a Mom could ask for... Love, Em.

Missing Rhett, Missing Blogging

Running down the boardwalk in California Scared of that big blue water, will just sit a spell and look awhile.    So it's been forever since I have truly been on track devoted to blogging. I need to start again. I fear I will loose the details of this life we are living ferociously day by day, by not writing them down. Not that my life itself is enormously impactful, but I like to think someday these words may impact my son, or perhaps impact my friends & family. Rhett. Wow, what an amazing adventure this whole parenting gig is. There are days that I just want to step into a closet & hide for the 5 minutes of peace it may provide during a particularly taxing day. There are days, like today, when I've been away from Rhett for a short time and I feel like my soul is shattering not having him near me. How do we ever let them go to college? Not thinking about it. Goodbye old friend...

I have been wanting to print my blog into a book for sometime now and it's just one of those things that gets pushed aside.  I now know why, it needed to wait for this post.  As a puppy just a few weeks old. Tomorrow we say goodbye to our dearest, oldest Rottweiler, Yukon.  His time has arrived to be let go, he is in pain and can't get up and down anymore.  He has given us over 10 years as part of our family.  This morning he looked up at me with his big brown eyes, and his grey muzzle and I knew, he was telling me he just couldn't do it anymore, he couldn't go on any longer for us.  I made the call to John, and the call to the vet.  Tomorrow is going to be a very sad day in our house. Yukon came to us a puppy full of life, energy and a playful spirit.  I remember I was terrified of getting a Rottie, but they were John's breed.  He loved them.  One of our first Christmas' living together in 2000, I decided to get Yukon fo...
