Santa Love at the North Pole |
|
Winter Wonderland! |
We took a weekend and headed north to Flagstaff this December. We convinced Rhett that we had received a phone call and Santa had asked us to come visit him at the North Pole! Well....we were sneaky and joined some good friends at the North Pole Experience up in Flagstaff. First...SLEDDING on Saturday! It was a trip planned perfectly with weather allowing us to drive up Friday into the winter wonderland safely, then Saturday it was snowing snowing snowing! We all piled in John's 4x4 (roads were less than desirable) and we trucked on up the mountain!

Rhett and his buddy, Trey, were both a little hesitant at first, but quickly got the hang of it and really enjoyed snow angels, snow balls, and just playing in the white stuff. Once good and wet and cold, we made our way to a concession stand (yes, out in the middle of the field! my kind of sledding) and got them some hot cocoa and they warmed by the fire. Then Papa asked if he could drive his truck down and pick up the boys, as they were pretty cold and tired. It would have been a LONG walk back. Perfect plan! Once into the truck, stripped out of wet clothes and warming up with lollipops, we were gold!

Frozen! |
The North Pole experience was that evening, with a magic trolley ride to the North Pole and Santa's village. There were so many things in the village, all the kids were totally into it. Rhett built toys with an elf (and got to play with them), saw the workshop and where all toys are wrapped up. He had snowman soup and cookies, attended elf university, saw Santa's office, found out he was on the "nice list", wrote Santa a letter (well he drew a picture), and even saw the biggest sleigh ever! We ended with a great visit to Santa in private. After a big hug, Rhett told him all about "I was a good boy" and that he would really like to have some "batman stuff" for Christmas. There is video below, which is very dark but you can hear Rhett talk to Santa. He was not afraid and truly loved him. It was in one word......Priceless.
